    Students will start the Diploma part of the course in their first year of study achieving a total of 8 mandatory units. Following successful completion of the Diploma, most students will progress onto the 2nd year and the full Extended Diploma. All units relate to the creative media sector, all are delivered through vocational learning and focus on the skills, knowledge and understanding that support all creative media production and technology activity. At the end of each year of the course, students will be assessed via a 'Final Major Project'. This will allow students to demonstrate all of the learning that has taken place through completion of unit work. The 8 mandatory units to be covered in the first year are: Introduction to media processes and technical skills Introduction to design and research skills in creative media production Introduction to professional practice in creative media production Critical and contextual awareness in creative media production Investigating audio production and technology Investigating visual production and technology Investigating interactive production and technology Developing a creative media Production project The 4 units to be completed in the second year are: Characteristics and contexts in creative media production Engaging with an audience in creative media production Preparing for progression in creative media production Specialist study in creative media production The two optional units are: Extended project in creative media production (Level 3) Extended project in creative media production (Level 4)
